LIVE WELL FERGUSON
July 2010

Summer has hit Ferguson hard. With these hot humid days swimming at the Splash at Wabash is by far the best form of exercise. The Ferguson Swim team has started up and many young swimmers are beginning a life long form of exercise. Swim lessons and water aerobics are offered through Ferguson Parks and Recreation so jump on board to two cool ways to stay fit, and active.

Live Well Ferguson is continuing with many of their initiatives: The Bike/Walk Master Plan is starting with a steering committee meeting at the end of the month. City Staff members, Council, Fire and Police representation, along with a few residents and a Live Well Ferguson committee member will serve. After this initial meeting a public forum for citizens will take place July 8th for resident input,(more details coming soon).

The next Sunday Parkways will be July 25th from 1-4 in Forest Wood park with Ferguson avenue closed to traffic for walking, biking, and jogging.

Last month entrées were featured from the Whistle Stop as the first restaurant to qualify for Eat Well Ferguson status. Watch for the next one hopefully in August.

Soon there will be walking/running/biking routes on LiveWellFerguson.com web site of various lengths and and endurance levels around the city.

In April the city submitted a proposal for a grant from the Missouri Foundation for Health that would help fund and continue to promote Live Well Ferguson after our initial years with Trailnet end.

The city of Ferguson is proud to have A staff member and a council member present at the Annual Convening of the Missouri Foundation for Health, and at the Pro Walk, Pro Bike Conference in Chattanooga, TN. The City of Ferguson is committed to continue to grow as a strong entity in North County and to help its Citizens stay healthy and active.

Consider joining in the 4th of July parade with the Live Well Ferguson Group behind our banner (all are welcome) and come to the next Live Well Meeting Aug 4,@ 7:00 at the Parks Department. Volunteers are always needed for Sunday Parkways also, just call Parks Department at 314-524-5072 to get in touch.
