LIVE
WELL FERGUSON
July
2009
What's
"LIVE WELL FERGUSON" all about? Ferguson
is a great city and it will continue to grow and change
as new people and ideas immerge. As the city continues
to grow our economic base, and help improve the residential
areas the PEOPLE always need to be the main focus. The
education part of Live Well has tried over the last 6
months through articles and the Health Fair co-sponsored
by Proud to give people information to help begin or continue
with healthy food and exercise choices.
The
Park Master Plan accepted by the city of Ferguson after
much input from citizens calls for walking and biking
trails, so watch for these in the next years. "Earth Dance"
was introduced to Ferguson last year with a fundraiser
called Pesto Festo. This year "Earth Dance" initiated
their first class of Freshman Farmies who learned to grow
organically right here in Ferguson on Mueller Farm. Watch
for information on their next Pest Festo.
Of
course the Farmers Market with their continued array of
fruits, vegetables and cooking demonstrations is another
great asset to the citizens of Ferguson and the whole
North County. The Fourth of July Parade will have Live
Well marchers. Please anywhere along the parade route
if you feel like walking, skipping, running, biking, join
in with us for 1block, 2blocks or 2 minutes, remember
it's a start, either way cheer us on.
This
summer on August 23, from 1-4pm will be the first of 3
Sunday Parkways. Live Well Ferguson is sponsoring these
days (along with help from the city) as fun filled family
experiences to get out and move! Stroll your baby, while
your toddler walks along, ride a bike (maybe for the first
time in years), try out a hoola hoop again, skip on some
hop-scotch squares, walk a mile, or run a couple, dribble
a ball down the street, do your own thing in the streets
(W. Florissant to Royce and Highmont to Lang) which will
be closed to vehicle traffic.
Let's
get moving and begin to live the motto: "LIVE WELL FERGUSON"
