LIVE WELL FERGUSON
February 2009

In the cold winter months, it's very hard to get up and moving. We all would rather sit on the couch wrapped in our blankets watching "The Biggest Loser." However, this can have a very negative impact on our well being. A current study found that teens that spend more than two hours in front of the TV or computer each day had less endurance than their peers in a running test.

To help us all get out and moving Live Well Ferguson is planning to form a team for the Go St. Louis Family Fun Weekend April 18, 2009. Many groups join in this weekend through schools in the Read, Right, Run, a 5K walk/run, or a 1 mile walk for seniors. There's something for all age groups and abilities in this weekend. To prepare Live Well Ferguson will sponsor a free training session for all fitness levels ages 12 and up. The group will meet twice a week with each session led by volunteer physical therapy students. One session will focus on a different aspect of training; endurance, strengthening, stretching, and how to progress. The second weekly session will be a group walk in a Ferguson neighborhood. The first meeting will be Thursday Feb.1 9 at 7:00pm in the BTC school cafeteria 150 N. Elizabeth (corner of Elizabeth and Chambers) with the second session a weekend walk/run.

To sign up for training, please call 314-522-8809 and leave your name and number on Councilwoman Faul's voicemail by pressing 2
